It’s only been the third time on one for me but I can already say: as soon as you put your ass on top of a racing bicycle, prepare for everyone - pedestrians, motorists, other cyclists - to be mad at you. No matter how or where you ride.

Matt Braun and Matt Griffin aim to hunt down and digitize ten old Wood Type fonts in this wonderful Kickstarter campaign.
Check out the video to see their process for turning old wooden letters into high-quality fonts with character. I just backed this great project und you should consider to do so, too. The best part: pledge 10, 30, 50 or 100 dollars to get access to one, three, five or all ten...

Last week I created a short Photomotion film about the Ihme-Zentrum in Hannover. It was planned as a huge business, residential and shopping center in the 1960s but hasn’t been completely finished yet due to several changes of owners and funding issues.
In order to create this short film I took about 5000 photos with my EOS 1000D and recorded ambient noise in different spots with my...

Updated Gravatar Plugin for Lithium →
Over the weekend I took some time to work on my Gravatar plugin for Lithium.
Improved documentation: Every class, property and method is now documented in detail. There is also a readme file with instructions and examples on how to use the plugin.
SSL Support: When displaying Gravatars on pages served over SSL, the helper will automatically switch to HTTPS requests. No annoying mixed content...

Twitter tells third-party devs to stop making... →
Twitter continues to make hostile and aggressive moves to alienate the third-party developers who helped make it the platform it is now. Today it’s third party Twitter clients. Tomorrow it’ll be URL shorteners and image/video hosts. Next it’ll be analytics and ads and who knows what else.
This didn’t get nearly as much attention as it should. What the fuck, Twitter?

I’m not exactly what one would call a family person. So while my parents attend the annual coffee party of my mother’s siblings, I’m sitting in the living room next to the beautiful Christmas tree, writing code. Frankly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A quick tip for Mac users who want to check out the new Flash Player 10.2 Beta and don’t like Adobe’s crappy installers:
Download and mount the DMG file
Right click on the file inside the disk image and choose Show package contents
Navigate to Contents → Resources
Double-click on Adobe Flash Player.pkg
There you go. You get the default package installer and won’t be forced...

Using HTML5's data attribute to pass settings to...
Whew, what a headline. It’s actually a very simple technique I stumbled on recently while refactoring my “network” script (the navigation thingy in the upper right corner).
So, what is this about? Let’s assume you have a JavaScript file which is used on several websites. On each site you want to be able to pass one or more variables to the script to customize it. The...
Forrst Podcast 026: The More You Know →
My little CSS3 experiment has been featured in yesterday’s episode of the wonderful Forrst Podcast. I’m a big fan of the show so I’m especially excited about that.
The guys mentioned that an article about the applied techniques would be nice. Well, your wish is my command so stay tuned, I hope I’ll have something this weekend.
